Come and stay in the heart of French Catalonia

Catalan Media Travel and Tours available for 2025

Many people visiting French Catalonia for Rugby League fixtures tend to pass straight through and head to the Spanish Costas, seeking more familiar holiday territory and cheap package deals.

But there is so much more to this forgotten triangle of land, containing the Roussilon plain of Perpignan and overseen by the sacred mountain of Catalonia - Canigou - which is a treasure trove of history, culture, stunning mountains and beautiful beaches.

Catalan Media is offering an opportunity to the independent traveller to spend time in this unique part of France - bordering Spain at the southern tip of the Pyrenées as the mountain range dips into the Mediterranean.

We are in the process of creating a unique resource for visitors interested in exploring this region.

We will soon be in a position to offer more travellers a personalised invitation and individually-customised experience all year round, taking in the unique culture and beauty of the region alongside a Rugby League experience of fraternité with local Treizistes.

Ideally suited to Rugby League supporters who may want to spend more time in the area when they come to watch their team play a Super League fixture in Perpignan or individuals or couples with friends and family who would like a base to explore the many villages, ports and places of interest all within a short distance.

Or those keen to discover the real heart of French Rugby League, the Federation clubs like Carcassonne, Lezignan, Limoux and St Esteve.

There are dozens of great Treiziste treasures in this region, let Catalan Media guide you to the right destination during the winter season 2024/25, staying in our personally recommended hotels and visiting the clubs on organised appointments.

We are close to the ski resorts of Les Angles and Font Romeu for winter sports and the foothills provide thousands of walkways and hiking/cycling routes for the active traveller.

Alternatively, you can head for the beaches at Argelés or the Costa Brava and enjoy the 360 days of sunshine this part of France enjoys.

Full details very soon... á bientot!
